Phoenix lounges: what to know before you go
Phoenix Sky Harbor is a balanced airport with a surprisingly good premium-lounge lineup for its size: an Amex Centurion Lounge and a Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club both sit in Terminal 4 (the largest terminal, and American's home), alongside an Admirals Club. United operates out of the smaller Terminal 3. The concentration in Terminal 4 is the key fact here — if you're departing from T4, you have genuine choice between the Centurion and Sapphire lounges, two of the better card lounges in the network. Sky Harbor's terminals are not connected airside, so a lounge in Terminal 4 does nothing for a Terminal 3 United departure; confirm your terminal first. PHX is a heat-driven airport — summer afternoons routinely top 110°F, and extreme heat can occasionally trigger weight-restriction delays — so an air-conditioned lounge is a real refuge from May through September. For a Phoenix-based traveler, the choice is card-led rather than airline-led given the strong T4 card lounges: an Amex Platinum (Centurion) or a Chase Sapphire Reserve (Sapphire Lounge) both deliver excellent value if you fly out of Terminal 4.
